Frequently Asked Questions
What will counseling cost?
The standard individual rate for a 45-50 minute therapy session is $275. Payment can be made in the form of cash, check, HSA credit card or any major credit card. Payment is due at the time of a session.
Do you accept insurance?
I am a licensed professional counselor (LPC) in the state of Texas. This means I am fully credentialed as an Out-of-Network provider for most insurance plans. I have chosen not to accept insurance direction for a number of reasons:
The Insurance Industry has gained power and influence to the extent that its primary interest has to do with making money and unfortunately not in providing quality patient care.
In order to rationalize the denial of or limit of care, they have become intrusive into the privacy of the therapy process, often requiring detailed notes on clients be sent to them.
They do not always adequately safeguard client confidentiality.
Using your Out-of Network benefits can be a better option for you as a consumer in regards to protecting your confidentiality. In order to do this you need to contact your insurance company and ask specifically about your Out-of-Network benefits for therapy with an LPC. I am available to help you develop a plan in order to maximize your potential benefits while still seeking the quality of care with an experienced professional.
Is there a minimum or maximum number of sessions?
Initially, I recommend meeting weekly or bi-weekly to the extent our schedules allow so that we can establish a therapeutic relationship and collaborate regarding your therapy goals. Once you feel you are making significant progress towards your goals at a pace that makes sense for you, we can always adjust our frequency of meeting for therapy. Research shows that enough time to develop a therapeutic relationship and anywhere from 6-16 sessions is enough to experience progress, healing, and transformation.
What kinds of therapy modalities are used?
I integrate Internal Family Systems Therapy (IFS), Intimacy From the Inside Out (IFIO), Somatic Experiencing (SE), and Interpersonal Neurobiology (IPNB) into how I practice. I believe therapy modalities are most powerfully utilized once a secure base of a therapeutic relationship is established. While there is no way to name one model in the creation of a safe and secure therapeutic relationship, I am committed to providing an authentic, honest, empowering, educational and healing environment for all clients.

What is your cancellation policy?
Due to higher than usual demands on my schedule, I currently require 48-hours business days notice if you are canceling an appointment. Illness and unexpected events happen, so one cancellation per year is waived by request. If this is not requested, I assume you are saving it up for another time.
